Business Lobby Talks – October 2020
I want to start by stating that If you currently reside in Lebanon and you are capable of reading this, I am glad you are well and safe after the exceptional circumstances we are all going through.
The Beirut blast was an unfortunate event that affected every Lebanese citizen, whether in Beirut or abroad, as well as other international countries and individuals. The extent of damages that manifested in the past few weeks is heartbreaking, and some are irreversible. Many businesses, homes, lives, and lifestyles have been physically affected, and the ability to foresee positive outcomes is weak.
Many articles are written about the effects of the blast, the damages, the possible theories that rise about politicians, and facts about the aid received from foreign countries. However, this isn’t going to be the case with me.
Lebanon went through a civil war, country invasions, terrorist attacks, poverty, famine, an economic collapse, a regeneration of political inconsistencies, the third most powerful explosion in history, and several revolutions. What all these have in common is the drive towards positivity, aid, and motivation that the Lebanese have. On the day after the explosion, people were ready with brooms and shovels to clear the mess caused by the explosion. Camp sites were set to help the families whose homes are damaged. Kitchens have opened their services to provide food and water for everyone who is incapable of providing for themselves anymore. Donation sites and initiatives were ready within days to raise international funds.
Lebanese citizens are known for their persistence and dedication to helping their brothers and sisters. They are known for rebuilding what is broken, and trust me, they won’t take no for an answer. Lebanese citizens are known to be the life of the party, and they will always find alternatives to bring the lights back to their city.
This is all to say that I am hopeful that we will all recover from this sooner than we anticipate, but we will all need to have each other back and think about the good things that we can make off what happened.
Our emails are open if you'd like to share your opinions. also, if you need to talk about what you are going through, then also feel free to drop down and email.
