A leading logistics and trading company in Baghdad, Iraq, is seeking an Accountant to manage the financial records and daily fiscal tasks of our office.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including daily income, expenses, and journal entries, ensuring proper classification and documentation in the accounting system.
- Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reports by compiling data, tracking budget performance, and highlighting variances to support informed decision-making.
- Organize, verify, and archive financial documents such as receipts, invoices, contracts, and payment vouchers, ensuring they are properly recorded and easily accessible for audits and reviews.
- Oversee the petty cash fund by recording all expenditures, reconciling balances regularly, and ensuring that all expenses are properly supported and within approved limits.
- Track day-to-day operational expenses, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and identifying any unusual or excessive spending.
- Assist with basic accounts payable and receivable tasks, including invoice tracking, payment follow-ups, and maintaining accurate records of outstanding balances.
- Coordinate office administrative activities, including managing office supplies, handling correspondence, and ensuring smooth day-to-day office operations.
- Manage schedules, meetings, and appointments, while assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, and internal documentation.
- Perform routine reconciliations of cash, bank statements, and internal records to ensure consistency and accuracy across all financial data.
- Accurately input financial and administrative data into accounting software or spreadsheets, ensuring timely updates and minimizing errors.
- Prepare and provide required documentation during internal or external audits, ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Support both the accounting and administrative teams in improving workflows, maintaining organized records, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
- 2 – 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Familiarity with basic accounting software or advanced Excel.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills in English and Arabic.

Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, or a certificate in IFRS) are a plus.
- Experience working in multinational companies is a plus.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday | 09:00 AM till 06:00 PM
- 2 Months in Baghdad - 2 weeks in Lebanon (ticket on them)
