A leading Oil & Gas company is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Beirut, Lebanon.
The right candidate will be accountable for maintaining the safe, efficient, and dependable operation of all mechanical systems and equipment within oil and gas facilities. This encompasses the design, installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assets such as pumps, compressors, pipelines, turbines, heat exchangers, and related equipment. The position requires close collaboration with various engineering disciplines, as well as operations and maintenance teams, to ensure continuous and optimized production. The Mechanical Engineer is also expected to serve as a backup to the Terminal Manager when required.
Responsibilities
A- Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine inspections and evaluations of mechanical systems, including tanks, pumps, pipelines, berth facilities, sea lines, generators, buildings, fire systems, and weighbridges.
- Complete and maintain monthly maintenance log sheets.
- Conduct maintenance assessments for network gas stations and prepare reports reflecting current conditions.
- Identify mechanical faults and implement corrective measures to reduce downtime and improve operational performance.
- Establish and oversee preventive maintenance programs to prolong equipment lifespan and enhance efficiency.
- Identify and procure required equipment and resources for terminal operations.
- Provide technical guidance and training to operators and maintenance staff.
- Supervise tank measurements (levels and temperature) for tanks used on the previous day for control purposes, as well as for tanks scheduled for use.
- Carry out unannounced inspections of tank truck loading operations, including sealing procedures.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and startup of mechanical equipment.
- Conduct performance testing to ensure systems operate according to specifications.
B- Project Management & Engineering Support:
- Work closely with project management teams to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Conduct site surveys to develop cost estimates and prepare drawings for terminal projects.
- Support engineering projects from initial concept through completion, including budgeting, cost estimation, and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives and address technical issues.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, operations, and contractors to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems.
C- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure and monitor the implementation of all relevant procedures and safety measures (HSE, ISPS, API, and other applicable standards) within the terminal.
- Ensure that all maintenance and repair activities comply with international standards, particularly API.
- Verify that all mechanical systems and equipment meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop operational procedures to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Select appropriate materials and ensure that designs adhere to industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Organize regular firefighting drills and coordinate with Civil Defense at least twice per month.
- Oversee vessel discharge operations, including documentation preparation and quantity control, in accordance with company and international standards.
D- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including technical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications.
- Prepare, compile, and present reports, technical documentation, and updates to relevant stakeholders as required.
- Produce and submit regular reports to the Operations Manager.
- Coordinate daily with both the Operations Manager and Terminal Manager.
- Inspect new and existing station sites to prepare design proposals, estimate costs, and supervise contractor work until project handover.
- Carry out any additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in heavy industry.
- AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D are a must.
