Job Description

Our partners, specialized in Sustainable Energies in the MENA region, with offices in Dubai, Iraq and Beirut, are currently hiring a Financial Controller.

Established in 2016, with a mission to promote solar and sustainable energies in the MENA region. Specialized in developing utility-scale and commercial energy projects. The EPC department is dedicated to providing clients with internationally compliant design standards, access to the world’s most reputed suppliers, and local expertise to ensure the successful execution of high-quality projects within specified timelines.

 

Job Overview:

We are looking for a results-driven Financial Controller to manage and improve the organization’s financial performance and direct the accounting operations. The role holder is responsible for financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, evaluating, internal control, evaluating, and managing risk.
The tasks will also include developing and maintaining financial models for projects in the energy sector.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, and be highly organized with excellent leadership skills. The financial controller will be managing the accounting team, and provide the necessary training to the staff on the finance issues.

 

Responsibilities

• Set a corporate finance strategy, define, develop and implement finance/accounting plans, policies, and procedures in line with the strategy in order to support the achievement of overall business objectives.
•Develop and maintain financial models and coordinate with different banking institutions / consultants to optimise financial structure.
• Review and compile annual budgets and monitor periodically relevant expenditures to avoid exceeding them.
• Plan, organize, and manage work activities within the department and set the needed policies, procedures, and systems to optimize workflow and boost internal productivity.
• Manage and control the production of key financial statements as well as accounting documents according to stated schedules so that the company complies with statutory and legal requirements.
• Oversee the collation of data and preparation of consolidated reports, review and analyze findings in order to ensure an appropriate financial control activity, and provide senior management with reliable financial data.
• Follow up on market trends and maintain an awareness of best practice techniques and tools in the area of financial management so that the department optimizes the efficiency and the level of service to internal customers.
• Liaise with external bodies and representatives (regulatory authorities, external auditors, financial organizations, etc…) as needed to make sure all queries and needs are met in a prompt and efficient manner.
• Maintain ongoing awareness of statutory and legal requirements and ensure that these are communicated to all relevant employees so that the company fulfills its legal requirements.
• Prepare management information reports in order to ensure that senior managers have the relevant information needed to support strategic decision making, and provide them with full technical support whenever needed.
• Liaise regularly with internal departments/projects to support them with the needed technical advice and understand ongoing business activities with their respective implications to optimize financial decisions.
• Lead, appraise and guide subordinates by providing them with technical guidance, training, and the required growth opportunities to ensure that subordinates are developed for higher-level roles.

 

Qualifications and skills

•Bachelor in Finance, Master’s a plus.
•More than 15 years of relevant experience.
•CFA a plus.
•Solid understanding of Audit and modeling / sensitivity analysis principal standards.
•Working knowledge of statutory legislation, regulation, and tax.
•Good knowledge of the contracting field and relevant laws and regulations.
•Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and presentation skills.
