Job Description

A freight forwarding company in Cameroun, Africa is looking for an Operations Manager.

 

This key position involves the development, restructuring, and expansion of the operations in customs transit, transportation, stevedoring, supply chain, consignment in applicable cases, and door-to-door delivery. The ideal candidate will be a motivated leader, capable of taking initiative, solving problems quickly, and optimizing operational processes to ensure the efficiency and profitability of our activities.

 

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement growth strategies for customs transit, transportation, stevedoring, and supply chain, focusing on business expansion and the acquisition of new clients and partners.
  • Actively seek business opportunities both locally and internationally, identifying and targeting potential clients, logistics partners, and suppliers.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily operations, including the management of goods flows from client-owned containers, route planning, delivery coordination, and meeting delivery deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and safety standards in all activities.
  • Recruit, manage, and train an effective operations team, fostering a collaborative work environment and encouraging professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, logistics partners, and suppliers while developing new strategic partnerships.
  • Establish performance indicators to evaluate staff productivity.
  • Create and sign partnerships with target clients for importing and exporting grouped, conventional, and container goods.
  • Create and sign partnerships or subcontract with major and multinational companies in the industry and other local companies.
  • Have and manage a substantial portfolio with global companies connected to the activity.

 

 

Requirements

  • University degree in logistics, international trade, operations management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in operations management, preferably in customs transit and supply chain industries.
  • Proven experience in finding and acquiring new clients and partners, both locally and internationally.
  • Excellent commercial skills to develop a strong client portfolio.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, safety standards, and operational practices in the transport and logistics sectors.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful growth strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-lasting professional relationships.
  • Results-driven.
  • Experience working in internationally recognized companies such as Schenker, Maersk, Bollore, CMA, etc., is essential.
  • Preferably previous work experience in Africa.
  • Fluent in both English and French.
  • Capable of installing and training staff on industry-specific software.
