A Contracting and Construction Materials company, with International projects in Metn, Lebanon is looking for a Chief Accountant to lead their accounting department, drive strategic decision-making, provide accurate financial insights and strengthening internal control processes.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end accounting operations for all entities, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, chart of accounts, and full balance sheet reconciliations
  • Coordinate, lead, and control monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes; review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting packages
  • Prepare, analyze, and submit financial statements and management reports, including company-wide and project-based P&L, quarterly financial analyses, variance analysis versus budget, and performance explanations
  • Prepare revenue projections, expenditure forecasts, and cash-flow planning (company and project level), including semi-annual cash-flow forecasts and financial modeling templates in collaboration with data analysts
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, systems, programs, and procedures to improve accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Prepare, control, and submit monthly payroll and employee tax reports and follow up with the Ministry of Finance, including all required forms and declarations (R10, R6, R3, R31, R5, R7)
  • Prepare and submit annual tax declarations, including F1, F2, and M18, and ensure proper filing, documentation, and receipt tracking with tax authorities
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on monthly and annual NSSF subscription reports and related statutory documentation
  • Manage all tax filings, declarations, and compliance requirements, ensuring timely submissions and alignment with local laws and government regulations
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, banks, and regulatory bodies; lead audit processes, prepare supporting documentation, and investigate and resolve audit findings, discrepancies, and non-compliance issues
  • Maintain and control accounting system entries, including expenses, depreciation, amortization, foreign exchange differences, and system adjustments
  • Perform and review bank reconciliations across all company accounts
  • Manage client and supplier account reconciliations, including coordination with accounting departments of overseas suppliers and intercompany partners
  • Play a key role in financial management by overseeing client and project accounts, including project P&L reporting, cash budgeting per project, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Supervise monthly stock monitoring for selected products and lead annual physical inventory counts, including valuation, reconciliation, and year-end inventory adjustments in the accounting system
  • Support internal stakeholders through systematic controls, issue resolution, and accounting adjustments (credit notes, price changes, special approvals, and problem-solving)
  • Prepare and manage sales commission reports on a monthly basis
  • Provide senior management with actionable financial insights, reports, and analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making
  • Act as a subject-matter expert and internal consultant on all accounting and finance-related matters across the organization
  • Ensure continuous compliance by staying informed of accounting standards, tax laws, and official government announcements and regulatory updates
  • Lead, mentor, train, and evaluate the accounting team; ensure accountability for all departmental responsibilities and performance outcomes
  • Secure at least one professional learning opportunity every six months (training, workshop, certification, or course) for self and accounting team members

  • Registering Sales Invoices, Clearing Expenses
  • Cash Control
  • Project Reconciliation
  • Bank reconciliation, registering all bank transactions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Previous experience in construction, industrial, or manufacturing company environments
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present to senior management
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities; acts as a primary point of contact
  • Mandatory experience working with ERP systems; Odoo experience is a strong plus
