We are seeking a seasoned HR Manager with a strong background in the F&B industry to lead and oversee our human resources department. Our workforce consists of 750+ employees, primarily blue-collar workers, many of whom speak only Arabic and come from diverse cultural backgrounds.
You have to be able to gain their trust, manage with empathy, and foster a respectful and productive environment. This role requires high emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to lead with influence and strategy.
You will oversee a full HR team, including relationship managers, and will be responsible for ensuring the entire HR department is running effectively and aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the entire HR department, ensuring all HR functions run smoothly and efficiently for a workforce of 750+ employees.
- Oversee all core HR operations: recruitment, on-boarding, training, payroll coordination, employee relations, compliance, and performance management.
- Manage and improve day-to-day recruitment activities including job postings, headhunting, screening, interview coordination, and candidate evaluations.
- Guide HR team members in maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records, including time off, sick leave, and benefits; ensure payroll data is accurately submitted.
- Conduct or oversee employee orientation, check-ins, and ensure new hires are properly integrated into the company culture.
- Handle HR documentation and prepare necessary reports related to staffing, training, performance, grievances, and compliance.
- Collaborate with department heads to define hiring needs, develop sourcing strategies, and advise on interview and assessment techniques.
- Develop and manage training and development programs to improve skill levels, retention, and team effectiveness.
- Lead performance management processes, including KPIs, evaluations, and employee feedback cycles.
- Maintain HR systems and databases, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Oversee the termination and off-boarding process, including exit interviews and compliance with local labor laws.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are current, compliant with ISO standards, and reflect evolving business needs.
- Address employee inquiries regarding HR policies, labor laws, and operational procedures, especially within a culturally diverse and language-limited workforce.
- Coordinate HR projects, training sessions, surveys, and internal meetings; document discussions and follow up on outcomes.
- Foster a respectful and trusting work environment by modeling emotional intelligence, professionalism, and transparency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certifications are a plus.
- 10+ years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in the Food & Beverage sector. Experience in bakery or sweets production is a strong plus.
- Proven track record of managing large, blue-collar work forces, including individuals with limited language and communication skills.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to earn employee trust.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience managing full HR operations and teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where people and operations move quickly.
- Familiarity with HR software, labor laws, and modern HR best practices.
- Fluency in English, French, and Arabic language.
