Our client, a well-established company operating in the construction and specialized in infrastructure and foundation works sector, is seeking to hire an experienced Operations Manager – Foundations & Piling (Bored Piles) to oversee and manage piling activities across multiple project sites.
This role carries full responsibility for the planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of foundation and piling operations. While experience with secant piles and CFA systems is beneficial, the organization’s primary operations focus on bored pile foundations. Therefore, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical expertise and operational leadership specifically in bored piling works.
The Operations Manager will act as the primary link between Head Office and project sites, ensuring proper execution of works and maintaining high standards of production, quality, safety, and cost control. All Site Engineers, Supervisors, and piling teams will report directly to this role
Responsibilities
Multi-Site Operations Management
- Oversee and manage all piling operations across multiple active construction sites.
- Ensure strict implementation of approved drawings, geotechnical recommendations, and project specifications.
- Receive technical drawings, revisions, and instructions from Head Office and ensure proper execution at site level.
- Communicate and distribute approved documentation to Site Engineers and ensure correct implementation.
- Monitor daily site progress and ensure that production targets are achieved.
- Conduct regular site visits to supervise ongoing operations and resolve technical or operational issues promptly.
- Develop and implement recovery strategies in the event of project delays.
Bored Pile Operations (Primary Technical Focus)
- Maintain full operational responsibility for the execution of bored piling works.
- Supervise rotary drilling operations and ensure correct rig positioning.
- Oversee slurry-supported excavation processes and temporary casing systems.
- Monitor the operation of desanders and bentonite recycling systems.
- Ensure proper tremie concreting procedures under slurry conditions.
- Supervise reinforcement cage installation and confirm compliance with design specifications.
- Verify pile depth, diameter, toe levels, and cut-off levels to ensure design accuracy.
- Review and maintain pile logs and daily drilling records.
- Supervise pile integrity testing activities (including PIT, CSL, and load testing) and ensure compliance with project standards.
Leadership and Site Coordination
- Manage and supervise Site Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, equipment operators, and piling crews across all sites.
- Allocate manpower and equipment effectively between projects.
- Monitor team performance and ensure accountability across site teams.
- Conduct regular coordination and performance meetings with site management teams.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication between project sites and Head Office.
Equipment and Plant Management
- Oversee deployment and utilization of piling rigs, cranes, pumps, desanders, bentonite plants, and other supporting machinery.
- Approve equipment mobilization and demobilization between projects.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are implemented.
- Minimize equipment downtime and optimize productivity.
Materials and Logistics Coordination
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of key materials including bentonite, cement, reinforcement steel, aggregates, fuel, and other consumables.
- Monitor material usage and control wastage across project sites.
- Coordinate the movement of materials and plant between locations as required.
- Prevent operational disruptions caused by material shortages.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and engineering standards.
- Enforce QA/QC procedures across all operational sites.
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies and safety protocols.
- Take immediate corrective action in the event of non-conformance or safety issues.
Cost Control and Operational Performance
- Monitor drilling productivity and unit rates across sites.
- Analyze operational performance data to improve efficiency.
- Implement measures aimed at improving productivity and reducing costs.
- Ensure projects operate within target budgets and profitability objectives.
- Provide structured daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports to Head Office.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10–15 years of professional experience in deep foundation and piling works.
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior operational management role.
- Demonstrated expertise in bored pile systems and slurry-based drilling operations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple construction sites simultaneously and oversee large operational teams.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and decision-making capabilities within complex site environments.
