Our partners, a leading holding company in the steel industry, manage multiple subsidiaries across Africa specializing in manufacturing, processing, and distribution. They are currently hiring a Sales Assistant Manager in Ghana to support the Head of Sales and Marketing in executing the company’s commercial strategy.
This role is responsible for coordinating the sales function, assisting in planning and target setting, managing key customer relationships, and supervising the work of sales practitioners and back-office teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, data-oriented, and capable of driving results on the ground.
Responsibilities
- Sales Operations

Support the Head of Sales in implementing sales strategies and plans across the region

Coordinate daily sales activities with the field and back-office teams

Supervise the performance of Sales Practitioners and Back-Office Sales Practitioners

Monitor sales targets and provide weekly updates on team progress

Assist with preparing customer offers, quotations, and follow-ups

Review client orders to ensure alignment with production and delivery schedules

Track overdue payments and follow up with clients as needed

Assist in preparing sales reports and data dashboards for internal reviews

- Customer Engagement & Market Coordination

Act as a point of contact for clients, addressing requests and concerns in coordination with relevant teams

Participate in customer meetings to support negotiations and relationship building

Collect customer feedback and share insights with the Head of Sales to improve service

Help identify and pursue new customer opportunities in target sectors (construction, distribution, industrial)

- Marketing & Business Support

Coordinate with the marketing team to align sales efforts with marketing campaigns

Monitor competitor activity and market changes and report findings to the management team

Support promotional activities, trade shows, and exhibitions as needed

Maintain accurate records of client communications and product offers

Guide and support a small team of sales professionals, ensuring tasks are executed accurately

Foster a collaborative and high-performance sales culture

Contribute to team development and training initiatives

Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement discussions

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field
- 4–6 years of relevant sales experience, preferably in the steel, cement, or paint industries
- Strong knowledge of B2B sales operations and customer engagement practices
- Proficient in MS Office and sales reporting tools
- Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or a local language is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a multicultural and dynamic environment
