Job Description

A reputable Retail Fashion company located in Kuwait is looking for a Retail Head of Operations manages day-to day retail operations operationally and strategically, analyze stores budgets, sales, visual displays, customer service and maintain inventory to keep stores well-stocked locally and regionally, hire and train the required managers to manage employees and work full-time hours in the areas, the stores and corporate office. Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in case needed, and may travel between different store branches and corporate offices to complete their duties. Reports to upper-level executives within the company, such the CEO or COO. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Strategic:

– Develop and oversee the implementation of the sales strategy and performance goals in alignment with the company’s strategy.

– Researching and Development and working with vendors.

– Inventory and sales performance analysis.

Operational:

– Maintains the stability and reputation of the store/stores by complying with legal requirements.

– Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing company retail operational policies and procedures.

– Implement and maintain retail operational policies and procedures to incorporate a sales plan, cost control, shrinkage management and reduction, audit compliance and people management.

– Contributes to future development at strategic and operational level.

– Plans, identifies, communicates and delegates key responsibilities and practices to the operations territories and store management team to ensure smooth flow of retail operations.

 

People:

– Ensures store operations requirements are fulfilled to include scheduling, assigning employees, follow up on work results.

– Maintains stores staff by assisting in recruitment, selection, orientation and training.

– Maintains stores staff results by coaching, counselling, disciplining, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.

– Protects staff by providing safe and clean environment.

– Commercial communication to all staff.

– Develop the sales staff and support areas to optimize sales and profits.

– Create and develop a coaching culture as well as promoting an environment that promotes diversity.

– Lead the store teams and the operations to deliver a profitable business.

– Ensure staff have a high level of customer awareness and product knowledge.

– Liaise with Training Department to develop and manage the company’s sales and product training programs.

 

Merchandise:

– Formulates pricing policies by reviewing merchandise activities, determining additional sales promotion, authorization stock clearance and studying trends.

– Market merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotions, display plans, analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.

– Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.

– Set the highest international merchandise standards.

– Liaise with Buying department to ensure range and stock levels are consistent with business requirements.

 

Financial:

– Achieve financial objectives by preparing budgets, scheduling expenditure, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.

– Maximize sales and profitability for the company.

– Set monthly targets, monthly and annual budgets.

– Update forecast results.

– With closely with Upper Management to provide quality retail information.

 

Customers:

– Use a range of internal and external information data to initiate business changes and create a customer focused culture.

– Identifies current and future requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers Segmentation and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.

– Protects customers by providing safe and clean environment.

– Take account of customers’ needs and shopping habits and competitor activity.

 

Marketing:

– Determines marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.

Qualification and Skills:

– Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals.

– Leadership: Lead and motivate teams, promoting a high-performance culture.

– Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

– Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

– Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing industry trends and customer demands.

– Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).

– Proven experience in retail operations management, preferably within the fashion industry.

– Strong understanding of retail KPIs, supply chain, and inventory management.

– Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a customer-first mindset.

– Proficiency in retail management software and MS Office.

– Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze data and drive profitability.

– Minimum 15-20 years’ experience in retail operations management.
